Every probe — one prompt sent to one engine — spends a few credits: lighter engines cost less, premium ones (like Claude with live web search) cost more. You decide which engines to use, how many prompts and how often, so the bill follows your real usage. You set a spending cap and we never go past it. The engine that probes the answer engines and stores your results is open source under AGPL. The cloud only adds convenience — managed scheduling and a hosted workspace — never a wall around your own data.
- Self-host, free. The full core is free forever under the AGPL. Run it on your own infrastructure with your own engine keys, no seat counting, no usage meter.
- Own your data. Every probe result, citation and report is yours. Export it in full at any time — there is no proprietary format holding it hostage.
- No lock-in. Start on cloud and move to self-host later, or the other way around. The same engine powers both, so switching never means losing your history.

Pricing questions.
Is self-hosting really free?
Yes. The self-hosted Community edition is free forever under the AGPL, with no seat or usage limits from us. You provide the infrastructure and your own engine API keys, so the only costs are your hosting and whatever the engines charge for their API calls.
How do the cloud limits work — can I overspend?
No. Each cloud plan is a fixed ceiling: it includes a set amount of tracking, and you can never be charged beyond your plan without explicitly choosing to. When you reach your limit we slow the tracking frequency to fit, or pause until the next cycle — there are no surprise bills.
What counts as a probe?
A probe is one prompt sent to one engine, recorded with its answer and any citations. Running the same prompt across ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google counts as three probes. Your plan's prompt count and engines decide how much tracking you get; Customize lets you set engines, frequency and volume yourself.
Are reports included?
Yes, on every plan — including Free and self-host. Reports read the data you've already collected, so there's nothing extra to pay. Higher plans add scheduled email delivery and white-label PDF export.
Can I switch from cloud to self-host?
Yes, and in either direction. The same open core powers both, and you can export your full history at any time, so moving from cloud to your own infrastructure — or back — never means starting over or losing data.
Do I need my own API keys?
For self-host, yes — you bring your own engine keys, which keeps you in control of usage and cost. On managed cloud, the probing runs on our side, so you don't need to supply keys yourself.
